On Wednesday, June 18, more than 200 Fairview and University of Minnesota leaders, donors and past patients joined together to break ground for the new University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital, Fairview. The building project, which will be completed in late 2010, calls for approximately 230,000 square feet of new space. The first patients will move into the new facility in early 2011.
Fairview president and CEO Mark Eustis described the project best when he said, “University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital, Fairview will be the centerpiece, not only for the Fairview System but also for the entire region, for breakthrough pediatric care. Here, we will accelerate the translation of new knowledge into clinical practice and provide outstanding care to children and their families. Here, we will create an exceptional patient and family experience that is second to none.”
