Hospitalist Program

UMACH_specialty_hospitalist

Knowing the importance of continuity of care, University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital created an inpatient pediatric hospitalist program, the first of its kind in the Twin Cities. The duties of a hospitalist include all aspects of patient care – from admission to discharge – as well as teaching, research and administrative responsibilities. Hospitalists manage and coordinate the entire inpatient episode of care, working closely with the patient's primary care physician and/or specialists involved.
  • Convenient, around-the-clock access to University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital's pediatric specialty services

  • Single referral and consultation access phone number for physicians, 888-KIDS-UMN, staffed by patient access specialists, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

  • Timely, ongoing communication with you after your patients' admission and initial patient evaluation, during patient stay and upon discharge

  • Collaborative approach between University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital physicians and referring providers, with a shared goal of returning patients to you for ongoing care
