The Talented Turtle Tina, sponsored by Talent Management, was named "The Grandest Turtle of All” at the 2007 Turtle Derby held on June 21 on Diehl Plaza.

For twenty years, the Turtle Derby has been one of the most popular fundraisers for University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital, Fairview. It has also been a tradition for our patients, their families and staff alike.  Last year, the fundraiser netted more than $20,000 to purchase educational toys and games for patients in the pediatric mental health units, teaching dolls and books for children who undergo transplants and kid-friendly décor for the procedure and treatment room in the Children’s Imaging and Sedation Center.

The money raised will help support programs like Child Family Life Services which offers family activities, produces a weekly television show for kids and guides program development to meet children’s special needs. The year the proceeds will be used to buy diversion toys, personal DVD players, video goggles, teaching dolls and a Reading Corner with books and music, among other things.

The 2007 Turtle Derby winning artist is Arrian Madden. Her winning turtle drawing was chosen to represent all the turtles in the race and is featured on all of the 2007 Turtle Derby materials.
