“Smell ‘Em Again in ‘07” T-shirt sale proceeds benefit University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital, Fairview
As part of Fairview’s ongoing relationship with the Minnesota Twins Baseball organization and its players, Fairview announces an opportunity to support University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital. Purchase a “Smell ‘Em Again in ‘07” T-shirt at Cub Foods, Scheels Sporting Goods and Dome Souvenirs, and help the children's hospital purchase a Fun Center through the Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation.
The Fun Center is a mobile entertainment unit and contains a flat-screen TV, DVD player and Nintendo Wii game system. The unit is designed to help children cope with nervous waits, extensive treatments and loneliness by providing endless hours of fun.
“Smell ‘Em Again in ‘07” is the newest version of a slogan adopted by Minnesota Twins catcher Mike Redmond during the team’s race to the American League Central crown in 2006. The phrase is Redmond’s way of emphasizing clutch hitting to teammates. After driving in key runs, Redmond and his Twins teammates would rub or point to their noses, acknowledging that they were “smelling to RBIs.” A hit among the fans, the phrase soon found its way onto T-shirts and led to the creation of the original “Smell ‘Em” campaign during the 2006 playoff push.
At the start of the 2007 season a part of the proceeds from each T-shirt sold was donated to University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital, Fairview. Now, as the Twins look to make another post season run in 2007, all proceeds generated by the “Smell ‘Em Again” campaign will be donated to University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital.
